However, To Kalon is primarily owned by two vineyards and is the source of grapes for dozens of winemakers in the region. Robert Mondavi is the proud owner of 450 acres. One of the most unique attributes of this land is the clonal diversity. Different clones of the same grape offer very distinct wines. You are going to learn about this original American vineyard which has been recognized as early as 150 years ago. This seminar will introduce you to the history of the vineyard, the importance of the vineyard to winemaking in California and what makes this land truly the first growth of Napa Valley.
